WAIRERE BOULDERS VALLEY OPEN |
Tucked
away in a lush valley near Horeke in the Far North is an ancient valley,
a unique geological wonder consisting of massive fluted basalt boulders
stacked in their thousands down the Wairere Valley towards the Hokianga
Harbour. Known as Wairere Boulders, this new eco-tourism
venture features two walking tracks with wooden steps, bridges and a
viewing platform on a loop track provide fascinating one and three-hour
walk options. Rita and Felix Schaad spent two years building the
22 wooden structures and developing the tracks that have helped extend
and transform this nature park. Visit www.wairereboulders.co.nz
