THE FOREST RESERVES
New Zealand has many beautiful
forests. Unfortunately a big portion of this tremendous resource has been cut down in the
early days, but conservation is now a number one issue in the whole country. Many forest
reserves have been created. The Kauri (species of tree) is the most gigantic tree to be
found. It has been used for timber, but the cutting of it is now regulated. One has to see
such a tree to grasp its size. The picture only permits a faint glimpse of its majesty. |
