 The
Hokianga store in Horeke is built on piles over the waters of the
harbour. On an ordinary day, life is very quiet around the Hokianga. Every hour has its
own mood and the colours vary with every hour of the day. Towns seem far away, almost non
existent, and only the odd old car or the hoofs of a lonely horse disturbs the harmony of
natures soothing sounds. There are very few boats cruising along, the odd fisher man, a
washed down hay bale or a piece of driftwood are the only voyagers on these quiet waters. |
