Camping Wairere

Camping at Wairere Boulders offers a unique opportunity to commune with nature. Our campsite is set amidst lush greenery with views of the boulders and surrounding hills. Our guests can enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities, including hiking, kayaking, bouldering and stargazing. Picture this - you wake up to the sweet sounds of native birds chirping outside, like a natural alarm clock! And at night the native owls, the Ruru or Morepork start hooting to each other, creating a chill vibe. It's like having your own personal concert from Mother Nature herself. So cool, right?

Campsite

At Wairere Boulders, we provide a tranquil and secluded haven where you can unplug from the world and connect with the natural world around you.

We have some of the clearest night skies in the world, completely unaffected by light pollution. This makes it perfect for night photography as the Milk Way, star trails and more are all crystal clear!

The estuary is swimmable at high tide for campers.

We do not take bookings for the campsite; we work on a first come, first served basis, but we have never had to turn anyone away! If you are coming with a large group, please ring us on 021 434669 to let the campsite manager know.

Dogs are permitted in the campground as long as they are kept under control at all times and all dog waste is removed. They are not permitted in the nature reserve.
