Kayaking the Wairere Boulders

Rent kayaks at Wairere Boulders and experience the valley in a completely different way.

The most interesting paddle is to remain in the vicinity of the Boulders, which extend to the property entrance. At peak high tide, you can access the maze of rocks upstream. Going downstream, a couple of large 'sentinel' rocks mark the edge of the property. You are welcome to go further, remembering the need to paddle back.

 

​All our kayaks are sit-on-top models, which are easy to use even for beginners and kids. We will supply you with life jackets and paddles. We have 13 single kayaks and a 2-3 person family kayak available. As the Wairere Stream is tidal, kayaking is dependent on the tides. Have a look at local tide times to see if they work in with your visit. Kayaking can be done approx. 2 hours either side of high tide (some tides are bigger than others).
